The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) needs to be disabled first so that the battery isn't affected by accidental air bag inflation. Attach the multi-function switch near the side of the Clock Spring that supports the mounting bracket and interconnect the jumper wire harness with the connector on that switch's inside wall. Slide the two slide tabs on the housing against the corresponding formations on the mounting bracket, then slide the housing into the bracket until it is locking into place. Take the screw from the mounting tab on the back of the right multi-function switch, thread it into the hole on the mounting bracket of the Clock Spring and tighten it to 1 Nm (10 in. lbs.) After that, put the upper and lower shrouds on the steering column and attach the battery negative cable.

Before you start working on the wiper switch, shut off the supplemental restraint system by unplugging and isolating the battery negative cable and waiting two minutes for the system to drain. Initially, take off the upper shroud, then the lower shroud from the steering column. After that, take out the screw holding the right multi-function switch to the mounting bracket on the right side of the Clock Spring. Push the switch toward you to separate the tabs on the housing from the curves in the slot of the bracket. Take the jumper wire harness connector from the receptacle behind the right multi-function switch and pull the switch from the Clock Spring.
