To take out the Clock Spring Assembly, begin by turning off the supplemental restraint system, unattach and isolate the vehicle's negative
Battery Cable and wait around two minutes to let the air bag system discharge. Until the
Steering Wheel is in place, the plastic locking pin in the service replacement Clock Spring should not be removed; if you do so, the Clock Spring needs to be re-centered. Put the steering wheel in the middle position and secure the steering system before you begin. First, cut off the battery negative cable, then lift the steering wheel from its shaft. If you use the old Clock Spring, make sure the rotor is secured to the case to hold the steering wheel in place until it's reinstalled. Drop the height of the steering column all the way down and remove both the upper and lower shrouds. Unplug the right multifunction switch from the Clock Spring and do the same for the left switch. First, remove the screws connecting the Clock Spring to the steering column lock curcuit housing. After that, pull the Clock Spring away from the steering column and disconnect all three of its wire harnesses from the back of the Clock Spring case.
