Before doing anything, clamp the shaft in a vise using soft jaws and make sure to support the CV joint. Use a cut-off wheel or grinder to remove the clamps after that and then slide the boot down the shaft. Take out the lubricant from the housing to reach the CV snap ring and get rid of it. Then, pull the bearings out of their place in the cage, turn the cage 30° to shift it off the inner race and let it go down the shaft. Take off the spread inner race snap ring and take the race off the shaft. Take out the old boot, clean up the housing, look at the cage, bearings, housing snap-ring, inner race snap-ring and inner race and watch for any signs of wear or damage. When you install the boot, use a coat of grease provided with the kit on the CV joint's parts. Set the new clamps on the boot and gently place it down the shaft. Move the cage over the shaft so that the end with the small hole goes by the boot, add the inner race and push the ring into place on the shaft. Place the cage just inside the inner race, then turn it 30° as you slide it in so the fence is aligned with the race. After applying grease to the parts inside the race, insert the bearings. Apply grease to the bore, add the bearing assembly into the housing and snap the housing snap ring into place in its groove. Put any remaining grease into the housing and boot, place the boot over the housing in its original place so it's not bent and get rid of any excess air. After that, fit your Clamp Installer C-4975A on the bridge of each boot clamp and tighten it until the clamp jaws are completely closed.
