How to Remove and Install an Ignition Switch and Key Lock Cylinder on Jeep Grand Cherokee?

At the back of the key lock cylinder housing is both the electrical ignition switch and the Skreem unit. Take the negative cable from the battery before beginning removal. Use a plastic trim removal stick and pull out the switch bezel which stays on by snapping. After that, unscrew the silencer pad with two screws. After that, get the knee blocker and the two torx screws from the key cylinder housing. Again, the plastic trim removal stick can be used to pop out the I.p. cluster bezel. After taking out one more torx screw, carefully take out the key/clynder/switch/cable/Skreem assembly from the raging bolt to ensure the cabel does not bind or twist. Press on the tabs where each of the electrical connectors meets the ignition switch and Skreem to disconnect them. Take out the Skreem unit by undoing the top screw, then put the head of a screwdriver into one small hole in the housing and turn it to release, then put it into the other small hole and turn it again, pull out the ignition switch and remove it. After turning the key to On and pressing the release tab, you can take out the key lock cylinder. To install, stick the ignition key into the lock cylinder and turn it on to make sure the retaining tab is depressed. Then, pair the shaft of the lock cylinder with the socket in the housing and make sure both are in the On position. Place the key lock cylinder in the grooves of the housing, moving it in until you can see the release tab. Put the ignition switch into the switch housing and tighten it by turning the screw until you hear it snap. Screw the Skreem unit into place on the switch housing. Placing the cable into the assembly, guide it so the tab is engaged; then, fit one torx screw in the key cylinder housing, again avoiding any tightening. Take care of the last two torx screws and then snug up all three of the housing mounting screws. Reattach the knee blocker and the silencer pad, fit each side bezel on the stepper motor and then rest the negative battery cable on the terminal.
