Start by placing the vehicle in Neutral and raising it securely for service of the rear axle shaft of the 8 1/4 inch rear axle. Take out the wheel and tire set and next remove the brake drum. Take out the lubricant after you have removed the housing cover. Turn over the differential case to reach the pinion shaft lock screw and then unscrew and remove it, along with the pinion shaft from the case.
