As with all fuel tank units, do not start on a front-wheel drive vehicle until you have released the fuel system pressure, guaranteed the ventilation is adequate and prevented all sparks and smoking. First, open the air cleaner lid, detach the inlet air temperature sensor and makeup air hose and shut off the negative battery cable. Then, take out the back seat's floor piece and the plastic cover and then vacuum the top of the fuel tank to get rid of any loose dust. In order to accurately gauge fuel, remember to carefully position the fuel tank as you remove the lock ring from the left side module with special tool #9340. Gently remove the fuel module from the tank, keeping any fuel leaks outside the vehicle and drain the fuel from the pump module so that no fuel gets inside the interior.
