Jeep Patriot Ignition Lock Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove the Ignition Lock Cylinder on Jeep Patriot?
    A:
The very first thing to do is get the Steering Column Control Module (Sccm) out of the steering column before trying to lift the lock cylinder. In an automatic transaxle, to disconnect the ignition shift interlock, insert the ignition key, turn it to On, press the tab on the connector and pull the cable out of the cylinder housing. Then, unscrew the Skreem/Wcm screw, free the fingers holding the Skreem/Wcm to the lock cylinder housing and pull the unit out. Turn the key cylinder to the Run position and after that put a suitable tool into the hole in the lock cylinder housing to push the retaining tab down. With the tool still in, pull the key cylinder and key out of the housing all at once. With the Special Tool 10041 or a similar Tool 30, unscrew the two Torx(R) Plus bits that secure the housing to the steering column and take out the housing. If the ignition lock cylinder is connected by a transfer, take out the screw and lift the switch straight off the housing tabs on the lock cylinder.
