  To start the installation, first turn off the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) by unhooking and separating the battery's negative cable and waiting for two minutes to allow the system capacitor to discharge. Because the plunger adjusts itself only once, if taken out, the brake lamp switch needs to be replaced with a new one. As soon as you get in, press the brake pedal firmly and keep it in that state. Place the tabs in the visible brake lamp switch collars to line up with the keyed hole in the bracket above and push the switch housing down until it is secured against the bracket. Turn the switch housing gently counterclockwise for about 30 degrees to lock the tabs onto the pedal bracket. You should not press or pull the brake pedal until you have adjusted the switch plunger. Pull the unibody wire harness connector back into the brake lamp switch after releasing the brake pedal without pushing it forward. Stop the retainer end of the wire harness into the isolated hole in the brake pedal support bracket. Turn the adjustment release lever clockwise until it clicks, so the lever sits parallel to the brake lamp connector on the receptacle which sets the plunger to the proper length. Should this process be done badly, you will have to replace the brake lamp switch. After that, connect the negative end of the battery to the chassis.

  Press down and hold the brake pedal before removing the stop lamp switch. Then, while rotating the stop lamp switch (2) to the left, move it about 30 degrees from its mounting position and then lift it back to remove it from the brake pedal assembly (6).
