Automotive cooling fan maintenance can start by loosening the four fan hub nuts without taking them out from the 2.5L engine. Head the fan drive/blade off the water pump's hub shaft by using the nut at the mounting point; the right-hand threads will allow you to turn it counterclockwise. Working with a proper fan wrench, release the fan drive and remove the belt for the accessories. Certain models need you to take off the fan shroud to reach and remove the fan drive with the
Fan Blade. Unbolt the four fan hub mounting nuts on the 2.5L engine and take out the fan/viscous fan drive unit. After you have removed the thermal viscous fan drive, keep it in a vertical position to avoid the silicone from reaching and polluting the bearing lubricant. When installing, assemble the fan blade to the viscous fan drive and tighten the mounting bolts using 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) torque. Place the mounting flange of the fan blade/viscous fan drive assembly onto the hub for the 2.5L engine, install the four nuts and tighten them to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) torque, making sure you tighten the first two nuts 180 degrees apart before the last two. Client the fan and fan drive onto the water pump pulley for the 4.0L engine. While putting on the serpentine accessory
Drive Belt, check the route so that the water pump does not cause the engine to overheat.
