How to Maintain a Turn Signal Flasher on Jeep Wrangler?

To service the turn signal flasher, separate and block the battery negative cable to prevent the air bag system from activating by mistake, then leave it unconnected for at least two minutes to allow the charging capacitor to deplete. Open by uncovering the steering column from inside, then remove the lower shroud screws from the upper section. Put the tilt steering column down fully and hold the tilt lever in the released position as you remove the upper shroud from the steering column. Use the combination flasher to tug it toward the dash panel and take out the flasher terminals. Slide the combination flasher terminals into the connector on the back of the left multi-function switch housing and press until secure. Lift the steering column shroud into place, install the screws and tighten them to 2 Nm (18 in. lbs.). Pull the tilt steering column up all the way, secure it by putting the release lever in the lock position and replace the steering column opening cover before you hook up the negative battery cable.
