2000 Chrysler LHS Starter Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Starter Motor on 2000 Chrysler LHS?
A: The first step in servicing and repairing the starter motor is to remove the battery negative remote cable from the remote ground post. Lift the vehicle and take out the three bolts securing the starter to the engine. Also, disconnect the positive battery cable from the starter and remove the starter solenoid from inside the transmission, placing the starter so you can reach the Connector Positive Assurance wiring connector. Lift the engine a little with the jack, place a stand below it and then loosen and take out the three bolts holding the left engine mount to the engine block. Rise up the jack a little to make working through the starter easier and slip the rear of the starter out between the catalyst and engine mount. Separate the positive-lock solenoid connector from the battery and pull out the starter from the vehicle. For installation, use the same steps in reverse and remember to wipe away any corrosion or dirt from the solenoid terminals before the wires are connected. Following installation of the starter, reconnect the posi-lock connector without delay.
