2000 Chrysler Sebring Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Master Cylinder on 2000 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Before servicing or repairing the brake master cylinder, take out the brake master cylinder and the brake booster. You should never take out the check valve from the vacuum hose because if it's broken, you should replace both parts. To install, screw the vacuum hose onto the brake booster nipple, then secure it using a hose clip so that the check valve and the pipe don't touch and the marking is facing upwards. After attaching the vacuum hose to the intake box, put the other end firmly into the intake port on the engine and hold it in place with a hose clip. After that, determine the clearance between the brake booster push rod and primary piston by using the formula A = B - C - D with measurements B, C and D. The usual amount for clearance is between 0.65 and 0.85 millimeters (0.0256 and 0.0335 inches). Remember that zero to 0.3 mm (0.004 to 0.012 inch) clearance will be seen when the brake booster negative pressure is set to 67 kPa (9.7 psi). If the clearance is outside the normal range, adjust the push rod screw so the length reaches your goal.
