2000 Chrysler Sebring Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Caliper on 2000 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Open the car by first removing the drive shaft from the front brake. After that, place the special tool into the front hub assembly following the shown example. With the pads out, test the hub torque to discover the brake drag torque which will help you calculate brake drag force once the pads are installed. Screw the nuts firmly to keep the disc secure on the hub. Get the pad clip securely on the caliper support, then tidy up the piston and carefully install it in the cylinder, being careful not to harm the piston boot when fitting the other elements of the caliper. Run the engine and push the brake pedal for 5 seconds, using pressure equivalent to around 196 N (44 lbs.), then turn off the engine and spin the brake disc forward 10 times. Weigh the hub torque on a spring scale and compute the drag torque of the disc brake by taking the difference between the measured hub torque and the starting hub torque. The accepted range for this difference is no higher than 69 N (15.4 lbs.). Should the difference be larger than the limit, remove the piston, check for dirt and watch out for corrosion or wear near the piston ring and on the lock pin and guide pin.
