2000 Chrysler Sebring Speed Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Speed Sensor on 2000 Chrysler Sebring?
A: The process to service the wheel speed sensor starts by taking off the rear ABS rotor, installing the ABS rotor and finishing with the front and rear wheel speed sensors. Be sure that the distance between the wheel speed sensor and the ABS rotor's teeth is 28.2-28.5 mm (1.11-1.12 inch) thick. Search the sensor tip for small pieces of metal and remove them when found, as some metal particles can make the sensor magnetized and build up debris. Test the resistance from the positive to negative terminal on the wheel speed sensor; it ought to be between 1.0 and 1.5 k ohms; replace the sensor if it is not within this range. If the wheel speed sensor cable is damaged, cut, loose or accidentally disconnected, then replace it with a new one. Testing a cable for damage involves taking the clamp off, flexing it next to the clamp to detect contact problems and checking that the connector and terminal are installed correctly. After removing the sensor leads, measure between terminal 1 and 2 and the sensor body to determine if the sensor is good; if not, 100 k ohms are required, then replace it. Finally, make sure the ABS rotor is not damaged or misshapen; if it needs replacement, then do so.
