How to Maintain Your Rear Shock Absorber on 2000 Dodge Dakota?

First raise the vehicle and support with the rear axle higher to service the rear shock absorber. To take out enforce shock absorber remove the lower bolt and nut from the axle bracket and remove the upper bolt and nut from the frame bracket. The upper mounting bolt and nut is tightened to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.) for installation, positioning and securing the shock absorber. Next, you install the shock absorber into the axle bracket, tighten it with the bolt and the nut, then again tighten the nut (at 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.)). The last thing to do is to remove the axle support and lower the vehicle.
