2000 Dodge Dakota Wiper Blade Parts and Q&A

  • Q: Can Wiper Blades Be Swapped Between Driver and Passenger Sides, and How to Replace Them on 2000 Dodge Dakota?
A: Wiper blades for the driver side and passenger side are different; the driver side has eight claw pairs and a bridge, while the passenger side just has six claw pairs. Both wiper element retainer ends should always face the part of the wiper blade nearest to the wiper pivot. Begin by pushing the windshield wiper switch to the ON position and run the wiper blades by switching the ignition switch, ON to OFF, until the windshield is clean. After that, raise the wiper arm to separate both the wiper and the element from the windshield glass. When removing the blade from the wiper arm, press the release tab under the tip to release the arm and then pull the blade off in the direction leading back to the pivot. Next, position the blade retainer into the U-shaped slot at the wiper arm's tip, letting the two lock together. Then, check that the notched retainer faces the side of the wiper blade that's furthest away from the wiper pivot.
