2001 Dodge Dakota Wiper Blade Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What Are the Best Practices for Servicing Wiper Blades on 2001 Dodge Dakota?
A: Always remember that the wiper blades on the passenger side cannot be used on the driver side, because only the driver side has an additional bracket and eight pairs of claws. The notched end of both wiper elements should face the wiper pivot. Turn the wiper control dial to ON and move the blades to a good position by using the ignition switch. Lift the wiper arm so that the blade comes up off the windscreen; press the horizontal tab at the bottom of the pivot block with the tip of the arm, then slide the blade towards the pivot end. Watch out that the arm of the wiper doesn't hit the glass, so there isn't any damage to the windshield. Lower the tip of the wiper arm onto the glass of your car. During installation, take off the wiper arm, direct the blade over the hook, make sure the notched retainer is facing the pivot and slide the hook in through the back until it snaps into place. Insert the pivot block/latch into the hook shape on the handle until you hear it snap, then move the wiper blade down slowly toward the windshield.
