2000 Dodge Intrepid Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Harmonic Balancer and Crankshaft Pulley on 2000 Dodge Intrepid?
A: Before you start servicing or repairing these items, remove the upper radiator crossmember, the fan module and any accessory drive belts. Take out the damper center bolt, making sure to hold the damper in place with Special Tool 8191 so that it doesn't touch the tensioner, timing chain cover or damper. Next, pull the damper out with the help of Special Tools Hot Heads Sw1023 Three Jaw Puller and Hot Heads Sw1019 Swivel Upon the Slide Bar Insert. For setting up the damper, use the Special Tool 8179 Screw, Washers and Thrust Bearing from 6792 and the 6792-1 Installer tool. Turn the damper center bolt until it reaches 125 ft. lbs. (170 Nm) while the damper is held in place using Special Tool 8191. Then, replace the accessory drive belts and cooling fan module, before putting on the upper radiator crossmember.
