A good way to get rid of the engine timing cover is to take out the negative terminal of the battery, then pull off the engine cover and the air cleaner assembly. Drain the cooling system, then take out the accessory
Drive Belt, fan and fan drive assembly. After that, get the coolant bottle and washer bottle and pull off the fan shroud. Since we won't disconnect the A/C lines, start by taking out the
A/C Compressor and keeping it near you, then proceed to the generator. Unlink the upper radiator hose next to the thermostat and both the heater lines at the timing cover, then unlatch the lower hose from the engine. Lift the tensioner on the accessory drive belt and remove both idler pulleys; next, take out the crankshaft damper. There is no need to take the hoses out of the
Power Steering Pump; simply separate the pump from the hoses and put it aside. Take out the dipstick support bolt, drain the engine oil and after that, remove the
Oil Pan and pick up tube. You don't have to take out the
Water Pump to replace the timing cover. Last, detach the bolts that hold the timing cover in place, then lift it off, with the timing cover slide bushings inside the cover.
