2000 Dodge Stratus Alternator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Alternator on 2000 Dodge Stratus?
A: Before working on the alternator, unhook the battery's negative cable from the shock tower's remote terminal and open the belt cover. Remove the field circuit from the generator and then loosen both the adjusting T-bolt and pivot bolt so they are not tight. Tighten the adjusting bolt to move the generator drive belt off and then unbolt the T-bolt and pivot bolt without dropping the spacer. Pull the generator out of the bracket and slide it over to the passenger head lamp bucket, then take it out of the head lamp bucket area. When installing, align the generator and drive in the pivot bolt, always making sure the spacer is safe from falling. After that, fit the adjusting T-bolt into position and reinforce it by tightening the adjusting bolt for the generator drive belt. Set up the connections inside by putting in the B+ nut and wire. After that, add the B+ terminal cover to your case. Connect the field circuit to the generator, put back the belt cover and then attach the negative battery cable.
