2000 Dodge Stratus Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Master Cylinder on 2000 Dodge Stratus?
A: Start by clamping the brake master cylinder in a vibe and attaching Special Tool 6802, Bleeding Tubes, to the outlets, putting them under the brake fluid surface when the brake master cylinder reservoir is filled to the required level. Pour DOT 3 brake fluid, either Mopar or something similar, into the brake fluid reservoir. After depressing the push rod with the wooden dowel, allow the pistons to return all the way, repeating this as long as air bubbles pass from the bleed tubes, until the brake master cylinder is free from air. With the outlet ports empty, pull the tubes out, close the ports and fix the fill cap on the reservoir; then remove the brake master cylinder from the vise. Replacing a brake master cylinder does not require a full hydraulic bleed and upon their installation, the brake master cylinder must be properly bled and filled on the power brake vacuum booster.
