2000 Dodge Viper Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace the Reservoir in a Brake Master Cylinder on 2000 Dodge Viper?
A: Start by taking out the brake master cylinder from the power brake booster when replacing the reservoir. Start by washing the brake master cylinder housing and the brake fluid reservoir well. Use a syringe or the same kind of tool to drain the brake fluid from its reservoir. Use a pin punch to remove the 2 roll pins that tie the brake fluid reservoir and brake master cylinder together, making sure you don't accidentally pry apart the reservoir. As you pull the reservoir up, use your hand to rock it sideways and release it from the sealing grommets and then remove the two grommets between the brake master cylinder and reservoir. Place a bit of fresh, clean brake fluid on the new seal grommets for the fluid reservoir and place them inside the brake master cylinder. Lay a blanket of clean and fresh brake fluid on the mount area and then hold the reservoir over the grommets, lower it by rocking it into place as you push down firmly. Make sure the fluid reservoir is all the way down on the shaft until the bottom points at the top of both seal grommets. Place both 2 roll pins in the holes to secure the reservoir to the brake master cylinder. If you fill and bleed the hydraulic system before replacing the brake master cylinder, you don't need to bleed it again afterward. Right before you mount the brake master cylinder on the power brake booster, bleed any air out of the brake master cylinder assembly.
