2000 Jeep Wrangler Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Fuel Rail on 2000 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Make sure the fuel system pressure is lower before performing the fuel rail service using the Fuel System Pressure Release Procedure and capping the fuel tank filler tube. Before anything else, pull the negative battery cable off and get rid of the air tube fixed to the base of the throttle body. After removing the electrical connectors from the injectors, tag them all for easy identification. Disconnect the latch link for the fuel supply line and the line at the fuel rail, as well as the throttle, speed control and automatic transmission cables if your engine has a throttle body. Separate the distribution bracket from the intake manifold, remove the bolt holding the crankshaft sensor harness to the fuel rail stud and clean away any debris near the fuel injectors. Watch each injector as you gently wiggle the fuel rail and keep shaking until they are all free from the manifold. Before you begin, clean every injector bore and put a small coating of clean engine oil on every injector's o-ring to facilitate proper installation. Each fuel injector should be seated securely into its correct bore before you begin the installation. Attach the sensor wires close to the mounting stud on the fuel rail and tighten all fitting bolts to 11 ± 3 N.m or 100 ± 25 in. lbs. Attach the harnesses of the injector tags and re-install the fuel line and latch clip. If the engine comes with a pressure test port fitting, put a protective cap onto it. After replacing the bracket, add the throttle, speed control and automatic transmission cables and the air tube through the throttle body. Afterward, screw on the fuel tank cap, link the negative battery cable, start the engine and examine the vehicle to see if there are any fuel leaks.
