The
Intake Manifold can stay in place while you remove the fuel rail, by taking these actions, first, remove the fuel tank filler tube cap and carry out the Fuel System Pressure Release Procedure. Second, take out the negative
Battery Cable, unfasten the top cover of the
Air Duct and remove the fuel hose and its clip from the fuel rail with a particular disconnection tool. Disconnect the needed vacuum lines at the
Throttle Body, empty the coolant, delete the
Thermostat and remove the thermostat housing. After that, take out the PCV hose and the valve at the valve cover. Remove the tops of the 3 upper intake manifold bolts and turn the bottom 2 intake manifold bolts 2 times looser. Remove the 2 main engine harness connectors found at the rear of the intake manifold and the two injection wiring harness clips from the harness mounting bracket. To remove the connector at each of the 4
Fuel Injectors, push the red slider away from injector 1, press the tab and take out the connector. The factory fuel injection system has tracing to show where the injectors are located. Once the 2 bolts have been removed from the injection rails, gently rock and pull the rail so the injectors clear the machined holes and remove the assembly. When you have to remove the fuel injectors, refer to the Fuel Injector Removal/Installation procedure. To install, first clean the fuel injector bores in the intake manifold, put a light layer of engine oil on every fuel injector O-ring and place the fuel rail/fuel injector assembly into the intake manifold's machined openings. With the O-rings undamaged, push the injectors into the cylinder head to the bottom of the rail. After putting on and tightening the 2 fuel rail mounting bolts up to the correct torque, install electrical connectors at each fuel injector and confirm they are snugly in place. Lock the 2 injection wiring harness clips onto their brackets, repeat for the 2 main engine harness connectors and tighten the 5 intake manifold mounting bolts as stated in Engine Torque Specifications. Refit the PCV valve, reattach the hose, replace the thermostat, reinstall its hose and pump in coolant. Connect the necessary vacuum lines to the throttle body, reconnect the fuel line latch clip and line to the fuel rail, add the air duct to the throttle body, connect the battery cable and fire up the engine to look for leaks.
