2001 Chrysler LHS A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How Can an A/C Condenser Be Serviced Without Draining the Cooling System or Removing the Radiator on 2001 Chrysler LHS?
A: The condenser, found in between the radiator and bumper, can be taken care of without draining the cooling system or moving the radiator. Start by lifting the hood and breaking the link between the negative battery cable's remote terminal and its post on the remote battery. Take refrigerant from the system and after that, take off the retainers for the upper radiator core support and place them somewhere safe. Remove the auxiliary transmission cooler hose connectors, without undoing the fittings at the cooler and pull out the screw and retainer bracket securing the transmission cooler lines. After that, take out the discharge line fastener and the liquid line fastener from the condenser and then remove the two screws that secure the condenser to the radiator. Remove the condenser and the auxiliary transmission cooler (they are attached) from the vehicle by cutting the straps holding them. Attach the auxiliary transmission cooler where it originally was, using the fresh retaining straps and add the condenser to your vehicle after that. Attach the condenser to the radiator with two screws torqued to 10.5 Nm (95 in. lbs.), join the liquid line to the condenser inlet and tighten the retaining bolt to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.) and secure the discharge line to the condenser outlet with a retaining nut tightened to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). Put on the retainer bracket and screw for the auxiliary transmission cooler hoses, attach all the hose fitting and fit the upper radiator core support. At last, plug the negative battery cable remotely to where its other end is attached. Then, evacuate the system and recharge the refrigerant.
