2001 Chrysler LHS EGR Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair an EGR Valve on 2001 Chrysler LHS?
A: First shut off the negative battery, then loosen the air inlet tube and evacuate the resonator. After that, unplug the electrical connector from the EGR valve and remove the screws at the EGR valve from the right rear cylinder head. Following that, unscrew the EGR valve and carefully clean the parts that contact the gasket. If it's dirty, also clean the EGR passages. In the first step, install the EGR valve and its new gasket loosely on the cylinder head, then the EGR tube and mounting screws with their new gaskets. Turn the screws between the EGR valve and cylinder head to 31 Nm (275 in. lbs.). Restrict the EGR tube screws to the EGR valve to 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.). Hook the electrical connector onto the solenoid again, insert the air inlet tube and resonator and then connect the negative cable to the battery.
