2001 Chrysler LHS Intake Manifold Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Intake Manifold for Lower on 2001 Chrysler LHS?
A: Before servicing the lower intake manifold, perform the fuel pressure release and drain the vehicle's cooling system. Unhook the upper hose from the coolant outlet on the front of the manifold and then take out the upper intake manifold. After that, remove electrical connections from the fuel injectors and coolant temperature sensor and take out the heater and coolant bottle hoses from the back of the intake manifold. Withdraw the hose going from the fuel rail, remove the screw from the support bracket fixing to the throttle body bracket and remove all the bolts supporting the fuel rail. Take out the fuel rail and injectors as a group, then remove the bolts joining the lower intake to remove the intake manifold. Check the manifold for damaged areas, cracks, signs of gasket wear, warped surfaces or holes in the fuel injector ports; if problems are found, replace it. After cleaning the sealing surfaces, check gaskets for tears or cuts and either fix them or put on new ones. Set the gaskets and intake manifold on the cylinder head and place the fuel rail with the injectors. Screw in the intake manifold bolts, step by step, using the correct sequence until the torque reads 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.). Screw the bracket from the fuel rail support into the throttle body support, link the fuel supply hose to the fuel rail and hook up the heater and coolant bottle supply hoses to the rear coolant tube on the intake manifold. Replace the electrical plugs at the fuel injectors and coolant sensor, reinstall the upper intake manifold, add the radiator upper hose to the coolant outlet under the front of the lower intake manifold and finally put fluid into the cooling system.
