2001 Chrysler LHS Oil Cooler Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain an Oil Cooler on 2001 Chrysler LHS?
A: Before working on the engine oil cooler, cut off all lines from the oil pan, the radiator, the pressure control valve and the retainer and isolator and then remove the lines, starting from the radiator end. After that, remove the oil pressure switch connector and the cooler supply line to the pressure control valve and loosen the valve from the engine block by undoing the fitting. When installing, first connect the radiator assembly and tighten the connection to the radiator fittings to a torque value of 18 Nm (160 in. lbs.). Structure the radiator side of the cooler lines and plug them into the radiator's fitting points, fastening these to 18 Nm (160 in. lbs.). Then, on the other end, connect the lines to the pressure control valve and oil pan fitting, using 30 Nm (260 in. lbs.). When setting up a new control valve, set the fitting in the block, tighten to 30 Nm (260 in. lbs.), fit the control valve, secure it into the fitting and confirm the connection by pulling in and out on the valve. To install the original control valve, secure it to the engine block and tighten the fitting at 30 Nm (260 in. lbs.), then connect the oil cooler line, likewise tighten it to 30 Nm (260 in. lbs.) and after that reconnect the oil pressure switch connector.
