2001 Chrysler LHS Drive Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix Drive Belts on 2001 Chrysler LHS?
A: Take off the generator/power steering belts to expose and reach the air conditioning belt. Unfasten the bolts on the tensioner pulley assembly to the point that the AC drive belt can come off. To access the generator or power steering belt, simply loosen its tensioner pulley locking nut, set the vehicle on a hoist, push out the two clips holding the bottom air shield and take out the air shield. Turn the tensioner adjusting bolt in a clockwise direction to ease the way for the belt to be removed. Installation should be done by putting the belt on the drive pulleys, adjusting the tension with the tensioner bolt and tightening the tensioner pulley locking nut to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). After that, place the generator/power steering drive belt in its correct position and tighten it following the instructions using Special Tool 7198, Belt Tension Gauge. Place the lower air shield and its push clips back, lower the car and then secure the tensioner pulley locking nut with 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs. To adjust tension, release the pulley locking nut, tighten the adjustment bolt with the gauge to match specifications and set the pulley nut to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) afterward.
