2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Fuel Injector Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Fuel Injector on 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: When servicing a fuel injector, first let the fuel system pressure go down and keep the place clear of possible ignition sources. To start, raise the air cleaner lid, take out the inlet air temperature sensor and its hose and lastly, unhook the negative battery cable. If you have them, slide off either the engine cover or the throttle control shield. Put towels around the hose so any gasoline drips can be caught before removing the supply tube from the rail. After that, take out the Intake Manifold and unplug the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors. Release the bolts on the fuel rail and then pull the whole assembly along with its injectors from the engine, afterwards take off the injectors from the fuel rail. When you put in the injectors, put them in the fuel rail and cover the seal with a bit of clean engine oil on each nozzle. Set the fuel injector nozzles into the intake manifold holes and push them down until they are secure, using a torque wrench to tighten the fuel rail bolts to 12 Nm (8 ft. lbs.). Attach the electrical connections to the fuel injectors, hook up the fuel supply tube to the fuel rail and set in place the Intake Manifold. When finished, install the throttle control or engine cover, attach the negative battery cable and screw on the air cleaner lid plus the inlet air temperature sensor once it is setup.
