2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Fuel Rail on 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Ensure there's no pressure inside the fuel system and, before service, be sure to ventilate the area and keep any ignition sources away. Start by taking out the air cleaner top, unplug the inlet air temperature sensor and makeup air hose and take the negative cable from the battery. If there is, take out the engine cover or throttle control frame. Cover the hose with shop towels to prevent gas leaks before you remove the supply tube from the rail. After that, take out the Intake Manifold and cut off the electrical connections from the fuel injectors. Get rid of the bolts securing the fuel rail to the engine, take out both the fuel rail and the injectors and then remove the injectors from the fuel rail. Add clean engine oil to the O-ring on the nozzle side of every injector and then install the injectors on the fuel rail. Put the fuel injector nozzles into the manifold openings, adjust them correctly and connect the bolts of the fuel rail to reach 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.) torque. Attach the fuel injectors back to the electrical connectors and link the fuel tube to the fuel rail. After the intake manifold is installed, add the engine cover or throttle control cover if yours is equipped. After connecting the negative battery cable, attach the air cleaner lid and add the inlet air temperature sensor, make sure the makeup air hose is connected and tighten the air inlet tube clamps to 3 Nm (about 19 in. lbs.). 5) torque.
