2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Wheel Cover Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Properly Remove and Install a Wheel Cover on 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Since the wheel cover is very easily damaged by an impact wrench, remove it by hand by un-threading its 5 nuts with a hand wrench. After removing the nuts, grab the wheel's center still cap and pull it directly out from the wheel. While installing, place the valve hole from the wheel cover over the stem of the valve in the wheel. Then use the retaining nuts on the wheel cover instead of the usual wheel nuts. Place the 5 retaining nuts for the wheel over the wheel nuts and insert them by hand. Always use a hand wrench to tighten the retaining nuts so you don't damage them. Tighten all five retaining nuts properly to keep the wheel cover from rattling. Tightening, progress step-by-step, each nut according to the direction shown, supporting it with your foot at least a second time to be certain it won't come loose. If one retaining nut slips, immediately tighten all of them just before it gets to the point where the thread slips again.
