2001 Chrysler Sebring Camshaft Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Camshaft Position Sensor on 2001 Chrysler Sebring?
A: This sensor is found at the back of the cylinder head. Disconnect the negative battery cable to start and also move and reconnect the PCV hose. After that, take off the connectors from the sensor and remove the screws to take out the camshaft position sensor. Rottle the screw on the rear side of the camshaft that holds the target magnet, remove the screw and take out the magnet. Hold the target magnet in the end of the camshaft, insert its dowels into the corresponding machine holes, attach it with a 3 Nm (30 in. lbs.) torque mounting screw and avoid over-torquing to sidestep breaking the magnet; if you see any cracks, you need to replace the magnet. Insert the camshaft position sensor and tighten its screws to 12.9 Nm (115 in. lbs.). Bind the electrical connector to the camshaft position sensor gently so that the sensor pins are not damaged by an awkward attachment. Afterwards, connect the hose that leads to the PCV and the negative battery cable.
