2001 Chrysler Sebring Power Steering Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Power Steering Pump on 2001 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Turn off the engine and examine the fluid level so that parts do not move and risk injuring you and use just Mopar Power Steering Fluid, not automatic transmission fluid for the repair. Check that the dipstick reports FULL COLD, close to 21 - 27 °C (70 - 80 °F). Top up the fluid reservoir and let the liquid settle there for at least two minutes. Set the vehicle in motion, but turn it off after a few seconds. If required, put more fluid in and run the engine again until it shows the same level after the engine stops. Climb under the car, lift one front wheel, start the engine and shift the steering wheel back and forth, touching the stops and top up the power steering fluid if it is low. Slowly move the vehicle down and then turn the steering wheel from one end to the other. Turn off the engine, inspect the fluid level and top it up if needed. When the fluid seems very bubbly, reset the car and try the test again after a few minutes.
