How to Maintain and Fix a Water Pump on 2001 Chrysler Sebring?

It's important to disconnect the negative battery cable and empty the cooling system prior to servicing or repairing the water pump. Afterwards, take the timing belt, camshaft sprockets and rear timing belt cover out and finally remove the attaching screws of the water pump from the engine. When required, make sure you clean the gasket mating surfaces. Inspect the whole assembly for signs of trouble such as cracks or other damage, wet coolant traces coming out of the shaft seal, a rough or loose bearing, the impeller rubbing the pump body or block, a damaged impeller and loose or broken sprocket or sprocket flange. As you install, insert a new O-ring gasket in the groove on the water pump body to avoid harm and coolant leaks. Securely join the pump body to the block and tighten each screw to between 12 Nm and 105 inch lbs. Give the rotating part of the pump a test by hand and then attach the rear timing belt cover as well as the camshaft sprockets and timing belt. After that, add the cooling liquid to the freedom box.
