2001 Dodge Caravan Blower Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Blower Motor on 2001 Dodge Caravan?
A: Before servicing the front blower motor, take out the HVAC Housing from your car. Separate the wire connector for the blower motor from either the resistor block or the power module on the motor, based on your car's design. Take out the two screws on the recirculation door actuator below the air intake housing and pull out the wire harness at the bottom of the door actuator housing surface. After that, remove the one screw on the top from the upper air intake housing to the lower air intake housing, then get rid of the four screws from the bottom that are marked to hold the assemblies together. Shove the rubber grommet of the blower motor wire harness into the opening in the lower intake air housing and push the connector end of the blower motor through the rubber hole. Place the air door so you can work on the screws holding the blower motor to the blower housing below the return grille. Open the recirculation-air door, slide the blower motor and blower wheel out together and put them somewhere safe outside the vehicle. Take care not to bend the recirculation-air door too much and lift the motor into place with the blower wheel, then fasten the motor to the blower housing with three screws, contracted to 2 Nm (17 in.lbs). Stick the blower motor wire connector through the hole in the lower housing and cover it with the grommet. Place the recirculation-air door into the lower air inlet housing and then secure the lower air inlet housing to the bottom half of the HVAC housing with four screws at 2 Nm (17 in.lbs). Put in the one screw that holds the upper intake air housing to the lower intake air housing and tighten it up to 2 Nm (17 in.lbs). Screw the actuator until the splines are properly positioned against the recirculation-air door pivot, holding it in place with two screws tightened to 2 Nm (17 in.lbs) and route the wires through the molded routing clips. At last, connect the wire harness connector to either the blower motor resistor block or blower motor power module, based on the vehicle and install the HVAC housing again.
