2001 Dodge Dakota Engine Mount Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service an Engine Mount on 2001 Dodge Dakota?
A: The first step is to remove the negative battery cable and lift the car on a hoist to service the rear engine mount. Get rid of the through bolt and nut and raise the transmission just slightly by using a jack. After that, loosen the nuts holding the insulator to the crossmember and remove it. If the rear engine support bracket is absent, put it over the transmission and screw the stud nuts in until they reach 41 Nm (30 ft-lbs.) of torque. Fit the slotted insulator on the lower studs and attach them to the crossmember, twisting the relative stud nuts to a torque of 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Set the transmission and engine in place beneath the rear engine support bracket, then slide the insulator onto the bracket, insert the through-bolt and tighten it to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.) of torque. Once the transmission jack is off, drop the vehicle, then reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
