2001 Dodge Dakota Wiper Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Wiper Arm on 2001 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before opening the hood, pull up the wiper arm to lock it over-center and off the windshield, holding down on the wiper blade. Take out the plastic nut cap from the pivot end of the wiper arm and remove the main nut holding the arm to the wiper pivot shaft. Disconnect the wiper arm from the spline of the wiper pivot shaft and take out the wiper arm pivot end from the pivot using a proper battery terminal puller. When installing, with the ignition switch in ON mode, set the multi-function switch grip to OFF and check that the wiper moving parts stop; then set the ignition back to OFF. Place the back of the arm at the back of the wiper arm pivot onto the wiper arms until the back edge of the blade matches the wiper's visible alignment lines ± 15 mm (± 0.59 in.) After correcting the alignment, pick up the wiper arm a bit to take the pressure off the spring at the pivot end. Then, push down the wiper arm pivot hole onto the shaft that connects to the arm. Screw and tighten the nut attaching the wiper arm to the wiper pivot shaft to 23.7 Nm (210 in. lbs.). Spray disinfectant on the windshield, use the windshield wipers, turn the ignition switch to the "Off" position and verify the position of the wiper arms. In the end, fit the plastic nut cap onto the wiper arm pivot nut.
