2001 Dodge Durango Oil Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Remove and Install an Oil Filter on an Engine on 2001 Dodge Durango?
A: All our engines are fitted with a high-standard full flow, single use oil filter and Mopar or similar filters are suggested. Before removing the filter, place a drain pan under it and unscrew the filter with a proper wrench. Turn the oil filter counterclockwise to take it off the cylinder block oil filter boss. If the filter gets loose from the adapter nipple, tip the gasket part upwards to avoid a mess and pull the filter off the vehicle. With a cloth, wipe away any oil or dirt on the gasket surface prior to installing your next filter. Make sure the oil filter gasket is lighted greased with either engine oil or chassis grease, then connect the filter to the adapter nipple. When the gasket meets the sealing surface, set the lid on, turning it only once with your hand. Then, add the oil.
