2001 Dodge Neon Clutch Slave Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Clutch Slave Cylinder on 2001 Dodge Neon?
A: Raise the automobile on a hoist, then disconnect the clutch hydraulic quick connect using tool 6638A. After that, take out the damper bracket nuts and slave cylinder bolts and remove the slave cylinder from the vehicle. The slave cylinder assembly should be placed on the transaxle and the fasteners should be started by hand during installation. Now, turn each slave cylinder bolt to 19 Nm (170 inch lbs.) and every damper nut to 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.). Join the supply tube of the clutch hydraulics and check that it makes a clicking noise and can be removed by pulling. Slowly drop the vehicle and watch for fluid in the clutch master cylinder reservoir; if not full, top up the reservoir with DOT 3 brake fluid. Drag the clutch lever back and forth through all its travel at least ten occasions to release air out of the system, watching to make sure the release is correct. If you have installed a new slave cylinder, be sure to remove the strap provided because it will make pedaling harder; if not, then disconnect the change cable.
