2001 Dodge Neon Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain a Harmonic Balancer and Crankshaft Pulley on 2001 Dodge Neon?
A: You should lift the vehicle with a hoist and take out the inner splash shield on the right before touching the harmonic balancer or crankshaft pulley. After that, remove the accessory drive belts and unbolt the crankshaft vibration damper. With the wide part of Special Tool 1026 and insert 6827-A, take out the damper. Make sure to place the crankshaft vibration damper with an M12-1.75 x 150 mm bolt, washer, thrust bearing and nut supplied by Special Tool 6792. Use Special Tool 6847 and a torque wrench to tighten the vibration damper bolt to 136 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Then, set the accessory drive belts in place, put on the right inner splash shield and bring the car back on the ground.
