2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Ball Joint Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Ball Joint in the Upper Control Arm on 2001 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: The manufacturer doesn't include specific advice for the upper ball joint, because it is part of the control arm. Set up the vehicle with the upper frame lifted and supported. The next steps are to remove both the upper suspension arm nut and bolt from the axle bracket and then the other from the frame rail. During installation, hold the upper suspension arm over top of the axle and frame rail, bolt it in place and finger tighten the nuts. Once the supports are removed and the vehicle is on the ground, tighten both nuts at the brackets to 163 Nm (120 ft. lbs.).
