2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Shock Absorber for Optimal Performance on 2001 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Before beginning on the front shock absorber, lift and support the vehicle on strong blocks. Take out the shock upper nut, retainer and grommet together. Once those are in place, remove the lower bolt from the suspension arm and unattach the shock. For installation, pull the shock to its highest setting and attach the retainer and grommet above, always checking for any wear. Pass the shock through the upper suspension arm bracket, put on the top grommet, retainer and nut, tightening the nut until it reaches 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). Line the shock's lower section with the bottom of the suspension arm and put in the mounting bolt, securing it to 142 Nm (105 ft. lbs.). In the end, take out the support and lower the car.
