2001 Dodge Ram 3500 Van Seat Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How should seat belts be inspected and replaced during and following a service on 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 Van?
A: Whenever you service a seat belt, look at all parts, buckles, supporting hardware and retractors to make sure they are fastened correctly and working as they should. Fix any torn, frayed or cut belt and straighten any belt that has twisted, in addition to tightening loose fasteners. Change any belt that has a bent or broken buckle or retractor, a broken or damaged latch plate or an anchor plate that is no longer in one piece. Always use new and unused replacement parts listed in the Mopar Parts Catalog, instead of trying to fix a faulty seat belt yourself. To get rid of the quick-release rear seat shoulder belt and retractor, push down on the quick-release button at the turning loop anchor plate trim cover. After that, lift the anchor plate to take the anchor screw out of it. If this step is needed, get rid of the screw from the inner roof rail under the quick-release turning loop anchor plate. After that, loosen the screw on the lower anchor plate and retractor, move the seat back forward a little, remove the belt guide from the above the back of the seat rest, pull back the seat cushion skirt and slide the lower shoulders belt anchor plate between the cushion and seat to the left of the back. When installing, place the shoulder belt retractor and the shoulder belt on the quick-release rear seat, push the plate from the front between the seat cushion and the backrest, lift the skirt to get to the anchor plate on the back, put the shoulder belt guide over the top of the seat back, position the retractor on the rear over the skirting and the anchor plate under the seat cushion, tighten all four screws securely and move the turning loop anchor plate down so it engages with the screw on the inner roof rail.
