2001 Dodge Stratus Control Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service the upper control arm on 2001 Dodge Stratus?
A: Start by removing the vehicle's front shock and breaking it down until you can release the upper mounting bracket from the coil spring. After that, remove the 2 bolts between the upper control arm and the upper mounting bracket bushings and detach the upper control arm from the bracket. If the upper control arm is damaged, the whole component should be changed, as fixing the damage is not possible. Only the ball joint grease seal is still working. First, place the upper control arm onto the upper mounting bracket and put the bolts through from the center, with the heads facing the coil spring to stop any rubbing that might damage the spring. After lining up the control arm facing the other bracket, tighten the bolts to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.). When all is done, fit the upper mounting bracket and the control arm back on the spring before totally reassembling the front shock assembly and put it all back on your car.
