2001 Dodge Stratus Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Fuel Rail on 2001 Dodge Stratus?
A: You should ensure the fuel pressure is released and keep the area where you'll be working well-ventilated, so nothing causes sparks. Disconnect the negative battery cable and then take out and lift the intake manifold plenum after removing its mounting bolts, so the intake manifold stays clean. Disconnect the fuel supply tube at its quick connect fitting on the fuel rail's rear. If the cylinder numbers aren't on the connectors, tag them to help you identify them later. On each side, take off the fuel rail's mounting bolts and lift it straight away from the cylinder head. Remove the retainers from the fuel injectors and then take out the injectors from the rail they are in. Carefully put a tiny amount of clean engine oil on the fuel injector O-rings and then put the retaining clips on the injectors and push them into the rail until the clips are aligned. Place the fuel rail above the cylinder heads and press it down; once it's there, tighten the bolts to 11 Nm (100 in. lbs.) using a torque wrench. Attach one end of the fuel supply tube quick connect fitting to the fuel rail and connect the electrical parts to the fuel injectors. After that, connect the intake manifold plenum once more and plug in the negative cable from the battery.
