2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Control Arm Bushing Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Control Arm Bushing on 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: First, you should take off the suspension arm attached to the lower end of the axle before servicing the control arm bushing. On a 4x2 vehicle, set Spacer 8279 under the power steering pump axle bushing and for the right side of a 4x4 vehicle, do the same. Then, put Receiver 7932-1 on the bushing's flanged end and press Remover/Install 7932-2 against the small side of the bushing. Attach bolt 7604 with the lever and bonnet, followed by the bushing and receiver and use Long Nut 7603 screwed onto the end of the bolt to turn the bushing out of place. After the nut, bolt, receiver, remover and bushing are removed, keep Spacer 8279 in place during the bushing installation on a 4x2 vehicle and the right side of a 4x4 vehicle. Lay the Receiver 7932-1 on the side of the axle bracket across from what you were working on. Stick the new bushing to the axle bracket with Remover/Install 7932-2 against the large end. Place bolt 7604 in the receiver, bushing and installer, then screw Long Nut 7603 onto the assembly to bring the bushing into the axle bracket. After that, take out the tools and mount the upper suspension arm back in place.
