2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Seat Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Perform a Seat Switch Replacement for the Passenger Seat on 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: You should begin by isolating the battery's negative cable before trying to remove the passenger seat switch. If your vehicle has ten-way power seats and power recliners, slide the trim stick or suitable wide flat-bladed tool between the seat switch and the stem to pry them off. Take out the three fasteners holding the outboard seat cushion shield to the frame, then move the shield sideways to unplug the power seat switch wire harness from the power seat switch connector. After that, unscrew the power seat switch from inside the outboard seat cushion side shield and pull out the switch. Slide the new power seat switch onto the back of the outboard side of the seat cushion shield and attach it using the two screws and a 1.5 Nm/14 in. lbs. torque. Match the power seat wire harness connector to the power seat switch connector receptacle and then correctly place and screw the outboard seat cushion side shield onto the seat cushion frame until it is tightened to 1.5 Nm (14 in. lbs.). If you have a ten-way power seat, fit both switch knobs onto your switch stems and make sure they are securely fastened by pushing hard until you hear the switches snap. After that, reattach the negative cable to the battery post.
