2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Windshield Washer Nozzle Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Windshield Washer Nozzle on 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before servicing the windshield washer spray nozzle, take off and isolate the battery negative cable from the battery. Take out the wiper arms from the pivots before you open the hood. Close off the forward flanges of the cowl grille by bringing the hood to plenum seal against the plenum panel. Take out the six plastic nuts (two short and four long) that hold the cowl grille cover to the studs on the cowl top panel above the windshield. Remove the left edge of the cowl grille cover to see the front washer plumbing inside the car. Take out the engine compartment washer hose from the cowl grille cover washer hose at the plastic elbow connector and then use that opening between the base of the windshield and the hood to get the cowl grille cover out of the cowl plenum and cowl top panels. From under the grille, pull the washer hose(s) out of the barbed nipple(s) in the front washer nozzle(s) and release the snaps holding them to push them out through the top of the cowl grille cover. To install, stick the nipple end of the nozzle(s) for the front washer through the hole in the cowl grille cover and press the top part of the nozzle into it. Connect the washer hoses back to the front nozzle barbed nipples and put them into their routing holes under the cowl grille cover. Slide the cowl grille cover into place over the cowl plenum and top panels from under the hood part that connects to the windshield, then lift up its left end to get to the washer tubes. The cowl grille cover washer hose should be connected again to the engine compartment washer hose at the elbow connector and the six plastic nuts for tightening are then placed over the cowl top studs and tightened in the right order. First, push the hood down onto the flanges at the front and stand it freely in the plenum seal. Then, connect the hood to its latch, place the wiper arms on the wiper pivots and reconnect the negative battery cable to the terminal.
