2001 Jeep Wrangler Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Harmonic Balancer on 2001 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before doing anything, remove the negative cable from your battery. Start by getting rid of the serpentine drive belt and fan shroud and then take apart the vibration damper retaining bolt and its washer. The Vibration Damper Removal Tool 7697 helps you remove the damper from the crankshaft. Applying some Mopar Silicone Rubber Sealant to the keyway in the crankshaft, put in the key and press it into place. First, make the keyway of the vibration damper hub match the key on the crankshaft and then tap the damper on firmly. Put back the vibration damper retaining bolt and washer, tightening them to 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.) torque. After that, mount the serpentine drive belt and check its tension against the recommended amount before finishing with the negative cable.
